E2 stands for Elevators and Escalators. The E2 Forum Frankfurt is a conference and innovation forum for elevator and escalator technology at the exhibition centre in Frankfurt am Main. It takes place every two years as a technology and topical platform for dialogue between the industry and decision-makers in building management and intelligent building technology.
The mobility of people and goods in and between buildings is one of the key technologies in the development of urban living spaces in accordance with the global goals of achieving climate neutrality and resource saving. Intelligent solutions for new buildings and urban spaces as well as for retrofitting or repurposing existing buildings require an early staged dialogue between stakeholders in project planning and design.
The E2 Forum Frankfurt brings together the players and decision-makers from industry, planning, construction and operation of modern E2 and building technologies and offers them a technology and networking platform for cross-sector dialogue.
Take part - in the lively exchange on the current topics and challenges of the future. In order to take account of the structural relevance of lifts and escalators in all planning and life phases of modern buildings and quarters, the E2 Forum Frankfurt offers expert lectures and content as part of its high-level conference programme to civil engineers, architects and operators, which is also recognised as further training by a number of state chambers of architects.
The E2 Forum cooperates with strong partners - first and foremost the Trade Association for Lifts and Escalators in the VDMA - and is part of a network of renowned E2 events and trade fairs for integrated building technology in the world's growth regions.

Co-operating partner
The E2 Forum Frankfurt is organised by Messe Frankfurt with the support of the German Elevators and Escalators trade association of the VDMA (Association of German Machine and Plant Manufacturers). The trade association is responsible for the contextual and conceptual form of the conference element. It represents approx. 90 per cent of the German market for elevators/lifts, escalators and moving pavements. There are currently 800,000 elevator systems installed in Germany, of which some 692,000 are for carrying people. For escalators, the current figure is around 37,000 installed units. Turnover in the sector, which employs approximately 17,000 people, amounts to more than two billion euros.

The E2 Forum Frankfurt is the third elevator and escalator industry event in Messe Frankfurt’s building technologies portfolio. This includes the perennially successful IEE-Expo in Mumbai (India) and the E2 Forum Milano, introduced in 2016 and ever since a popular industry meeting place for visitors from Italy and beyond. Latest new members to this E2 family of events are the E2 Forums in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and New Delhi (India).
